Day One Fertilization Report

02/12/2012

So here is the breakdown:

  • 27 MATURE eggs were harvested (holy shit balls, I guess E2 is not always indicative of mature eggs!)
  • All of them were mixed with Mr. Husband’s rockin’ sperm (they even said his sperm was unusually good. I blame all the good vegan cooking!)
  • 20 fertilized normally

The seven that did not fertilized were:

  • 4 showed chromosomal abnormalities so they were tossed
  • 3 had cracked zona

Oh my gosh, y’all. I’m so overwhelmed. I hope, hope hope that tomorrows report is just as good.

Now I’m going to curl up and try to feel better. Day 1 post retrieval is not much better than day of. It feels like someone scrambled all my organs together and tried to make an omelet.

Congratulations on all those mature eggs and an amazing fertilization rate:-) So happy for you!! It’s like what I learned from my cycle as well – i.e. you just can never predict results and like with a lot of other things in life we just have to take one day at a time and try not to worry prematurely (which is alway very difficult to do…)

WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Amazing fert. report mamma!!! I just know you are gonna end up with some good frosties!!!!
When I went through IVF a wise friend told me this- “from some of the worst looking cycles have come some of the best looking results.. never forget that”. She could not have been more right. AND she just went through her 3rd IVF and got her BFP from a not-so-hot looking cycle (I actually sent her own words back to her!).
    SO excited for you!!!!!!! xo
