I received my 6th and final call from the embryologist this morning. We have a total of 6 embabies in the freezer. This morning they put three more in to join the other three siblings, completing my embryo six-pack. Today’s stragglers really burst forth and shined, too, making me all the more confident that they will be the mini Hermanos. Their stats are as follows:
- One Grade 6AB – this little one is fully hatched even!
- One Grade 5AA – the embryologist described this one as “absolutely perfect”
- One Grade 5BA – I think this one was scrambling to tie his/her shoes right before the microscope moved over to its corner of the petri dish!
Writing this is the first time I have been able to really let this all sink in. I received the call at 8:12 a.m., then had to call my mom, Mr. Husband, tell the coworkers and respond to urgent emails requesting IMMEDIATE EMBRYO INFO. The rest of my day was a flurry of activity in the office. I finished off the official proof of the annual report (24 pages of organization-touting goodness) and fired off this months Insider internal newsletter.
Now, at 3 p.m., I finally have time to breathe, write, and relish in our success. We have 6 perfect or near perfect embryos waiting for us. Six opportunities at building the family of our dreams. Six little bundles of cells filled with the genetic maps that make Mr. Husband and I who we are – colorful, awkward, nerdy, delightful, creative and bold individuals (with thin hair and bad eye sight!)
I am absolutely overwhelmed.
