March Photo Challenge: Day 20

03/21/2012

Belle

Prompt: button

About this photo:

This is my least favorite button. Ever.

It was a tough call between the washing machine button and the dishwasher button. These modern conveniences really give me fits.

Being a Domestic Goddess is supposed to be so easy with these things! Except I’m pretty sure that as soon as washing machines became mainstream people started wearing more clothing and using more sheets and towels.

I’m also 100% certain that when people see a dishwasher they immediately use 10x the dishes necessary to prepare a meal and why not??? Cleanup is a breeze! First you have to rinse them all, then carefully organize them so everything fits and gets equally clean. Then run the beast and THEN you have to put them all away again, just in time to refill with the next sink full of too many dishes.

Doing laundry and dishes just seems so futile, you know? I think I might quit* 🙂

*Mr. Husband groaned when he saw this post!

I hate dishes! Hubby hates laundry. We made a pact when we got married that he would do the dishes and I the laundry. It works out great!

We have a similar pact Emily, Kitt does vacuuming and bins. I end up with the rest, but only because I am home all day! I hate vacuuming.

I would have never thought to use an appliance button for this prompt! Love it. My husband and I have divided up those duties pretty well- I actually don’t mind laundry at all, but LOATHE unloading the dishwasher- so that is his job, and I think a fair compromise!

For the first time in 32 years (since the college dorm room) I am without a dishwasher in our tiny cabin…and it’s OK (really). I could not live w/o a washer tho…but my dryer will get a break come summer (if there is such a season up here).
