About this photo: I intentionally postponed taking a photo yesterday to take one today. I know, sorta lame, but what can you do? Today I ran my second 5K. I beat my last time by around 3 minutes, coming in at 30:28, just a smidge over a 10 minute mile. I also had a buddy this time, Mr. Husband! He decided to follow in mine and my dad’s footsteps and ran with no training. He came in a smidge behind me at 31 minutes. I’m so proud of him! We are running another 5K next Saturday and then one right before my transfer on April 14. I love him so much and can’t wait to pound more pavement with him!
About this photo: This afternoon I left for my wonderful Vegas vacation to meeting my two dear girl friends and the lovely Rachel from the former Eggs in a Row. Unfortunately, my plane had electrical difficulties and landed in Kansas City, where there is not an Allegiant hub… meaning there is no other plane for us to hop on. We will be delayed at least 5 hours until they can fly two more planes to us. LAME!
While I’m tremendously thankful we landed safely, I’m seriously perturbed that I am going to miss the one night without my friends’ 9-month old. This was supposed to be our trashy dress night. It was going to be the night we scooted around the city, acting ridiculous and consuming delicious food and fancy cocktails. In my twisted little infertile mind, I had planned this night to be the last real hurrah with my girl friends before I’m good and knocked up from my FET in April. I guess the universe had other plans, or maybe it’s karma for past stupid decisions.
The major problem with me being stranded in an airport is finding food. For my new readers, let me summarize:
- I’m a pescatarian, meaning the only meat I eat is fish and that fish has to be prepared a certain way (see below).
- I’m allergic to shellfish, meaning I only eat floppy fish, no sea bugs, no sea snot (oysters).
- I’m allergic to diary, meaning if I eat fish or anything for that matter, it can’t have butter, cheese, cream, milk, etc. on it.
- I’m allergic to tree nuts and peanuts, meaning most quickie snack foods are off-limits.
USUALLY I travel with a bag full of Belle-friendly snacks. This time, however, my flight was direct and we had planned to stop at a Whole Paycheck (Whole Foods) on our way to the resort so why take up valuable shoe space with snacks? I ditched the snacks and packed a shameful four pairs of shoes. Lesson learned. Originally I had planned today’s photo to be a hug between me and my two friends. Seems the only hug I can find in Kansas, though, is a hug from a banana, orange and a surprisingly tasty wheat beer!
I hope to continue posting daily photos during my vacation. I will catch up on all my blog reading when I get home. Until then, virtual hugs to you all and enjoy your REAL dinner!
