CD-6 and Vacation Photos

04/02/2012

Belle

Wow, recovering from vacation sort of requires a second vacation. My sleep schedule is still thrown off from the 3 hour time change. I’m such a pansy. I can’t imagine how I would feel with a 10 or 12 hour time change! As promised, I wanted to share a few photos from our adventures in Vegas and California.

While in Vegas I had the pleasure of having a quick dinner with Eggs In A Row. (Hey pretty lady!)This was the first time I have met another blogger in real life and I gotta be honest with you, I was a little nervous! This stranger knew more about my female anatomy than my own mother knows at this point! Despite everyone being worn out and rushed to pack (we were leaving early the next morning), we had a lovely dinner and I was thrilled to find her just as hilarious and wonderfully sarcastic IRL as she is on her blog. Mr. Husband and I are planning a trip to Phoenix and Flagstaff this summer and very much hope to visit with her again, and meet any other bloggers along the way!

Today is CD-6. This morning I replaced my Vivelle patch and added an additional one. On Friday I will be wearing four patches at a time – YIKES! Despite all these patches, I’m still terrified my lining will be le’crap so I am doing everything in my power to help it along including:

  • 2-3 cups red raspberry leaf tea (bonus – it is also delicious and has a slight laxative effect which is always a welcome thing when dealing with synthetic hormones!)
  • Evening foot soaks in hot water with lavender sea salts. Mr. Husband hopes this also makes my feet softer…
  • I downloaded Circle and Bloom and will start tonight. I know it is a little late to start, but figured better late than never.
  • Continuing my daily prenatal and fish/flax oil supplements (been taking these for years already)
  • I am going to walk to Kroger on my lunch break today and pick up some baby Aspirin as I have heard this can also help. Anyone else tried this? How many did you take each day?

I would really like to add some evening restorative yoga poses to the mix. Does anyone have recommendations for poses that help to tone and increase blood flow to the uterus?

My lining check is scheduled for April 10 at 9 a.m. Go Ute Go!

Love the vacation photos! Looks like a great time. 🙂

Oh, lining issues. I know them well. I take baby aspirin (just one per day). I’ve tried Red Raspberry Leaf capsules, but didn’t notice any difference. Maybe the tea is more effective? I’ve also heard that pineapple can help thicken lining. (Alas, I am allergic to pineapple.) Another thing I’ve tried is uterine massage and TCM pressure points. If you’d like to try this, I recommend the book The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis.

Yay!!! Coming up so quick! What is your tentative FET day, a few days later? I used circle + bloom too and really enjoyed it – especially in the two week wait, really helped me to actually focus on the embryos implanting and growing because I normally had a hard time with that. I actually contacted circle and bloom about how to do with an FET and she said to just listen to the 3 pre-cycle sessions over and over until the transfer day then use transfer day on. (The other days are all pretty much dedicated to growing follicles). And your lining will be fantastic I have no doubt! It is amazing how much one little tweak adds so much – 4 patches you will have a gigantic plus lining!

THANK YOU for the Circle and Bloom info. I was a little unsure how to use it with an FET. You saved me a phone call 🙂 My actual transfer is scheduled for April 16 or 17. I’m hoping for 17 since I have two video shoots on the 16th, but we’ll let my lining make the final call!

So glad you got to see Red Rocks…one of my favorite places while living there. Most people don’t realize the beauty surrounding “The Meadows…” aka Las Vegas. Another treat is Valley of Fire and Mt.Charleston…which I am sure you appreciated towering in the distance. That was my first “real” mountain climb..getting almost to the top before the rocky mountain fever took me out..elevation sickness at 11,000 feet. Wonderful photos. Glad you are feeling refreshed from vacation, best friends and appreciation for home. Your body, mind and spirit are ready for what is to come. HUGS!!

Hey girl! Welcome back! Another vote for guided meditation- I also used Anji.
Did you ask your RE about the RRL tea? I was told not to use it (or any herbs at all) because it could actually screw up the hormone balance they are trying to create with the drugs/patches. Just wanted to let you know that.
FYI- My IVF cycle, in which I relied only on the drugs they prescribed (ie Vivelle, injections, etc.), and dropped every herb I had been taking, was my BEST lining ever. Sending hopes your way!

Ohhh, this is good advice. Thanks Leslie. Maybe I’ll just stick with the meds and non-herbal things (yoga, foot soaks, meditating, etc.) After shooting all my prior drugs into my belly or popping them into my Va-Jay-Jay, it’s sort of hard to believe a little sticker will do much! I should trust the science, though, as so far it has not done me wrong!

I’ve been on low dose aspirin for years now – just 81 mg (one pill) a day. Might want to ask your RE before adding it, just to be sure (it was recommended by mine, but I never did IVF). Good luck!!!

Yay that’s awesome that you got to have a meal with the egg lady 😀 Jealous!

I think this pose is good for the uterus: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-868/Reclining-Goddess-Howto-Tips-Benefits.html

Anyway I find it to be really comfortable, it was my favorite pose in restorative and fertility yoga. You can boost your back with a pillow or two if it’s hard to lie all the way down in this position.

This yoga DVD was recommended by a number of yoga teachers. If you are a purist it may not suit you. The poses are adapted from yoga.

In the book I have on conception yoga one of the simple positions it suggests is just legs up the wall flat on your back. Other useful ones are flat on your back hands on knees and legs apart knees up to your chest. A good one with movement is lying semi-supine, legs hip width apart and tilt the pelvis back and forth, when you have done that movement a few times lie with your legs apart but rested on pillows, feet touching and palms facing up

I’m so glad that I read your blog and all these wonderful comments today. I signed in today so that I could make some headway on getting ready for the big day, including figuring out if I could do yoga during stims (ovary torque sounds bad, bad) and I see all these wonderful recommendations.

I agree with Leslie about the herbs — red raspberry leaf can act like estrogen in your body, which may be okay, but may not be. I drank tons of that during my IUIs and my last IVF but this time I’m only doing what they tell me to.

Looks like you had a fun vacation!
