Quick update

Who knew second trimester could be so much worse then first trimester? We just got back in from the eye clinic and much to my delight, I am not flaring. The doctor did say I have every right to check in when I’m uncertain but that no matter how hard he looked he could not find anything to write down which is GREAT news in my book.

I sure regret spending my first 12 weeks worrying about not feeling sick because well, you know. No complaints here, though. I’ll take days on end of crappy headaches and light sensitivity and bouts of mud butt if that is what it takes to bring home my chicken. Now to play with these cats and tuck myself into bed. Thanks for all your encouragement today – your advice kept a nuclear meltdown at bay!

That’s great news! Well, except for the fact that you’re still feeling sick πŸ˜‰ Take good care of yourself! I guess technically the 1st trimester ends at 13 weeks and 3 days, maybe you’ll magically feel better in a few days πŸ˜‰

So glad to hear the good news — if you can call 2nd tri ickiness “good news.” Hope you’re able to enjoy your weekend and the holidays, even if you’re not feeling your best!

Oh no! My second trimester was the best, I felt amazing. I’m sorry yours is off to a nauseating start (but glad everything is okay)!!

It’s funny you wrote this today about second trimester sickness. I am 13w6d today and I threw up for the first time this morning! I’m glad everything is okay with your sight…and like you, I will take this if it means bringing home my sweet baby!

I think my headaches lasted week 12 to either 15 or 17…but then they were totally gone the rest of the pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you that they go away soon and for good.

Long time reader here, but this is my first comment. (Hi!) So glad you got some peace of mind from your appointment. Never underestimate the random, off-the-wall sh*t that the pregnant female body can come up with! On top of all the typical ailments, I had croaky bubbly burps that came only when I was laying on my left side and middle-of-the-night episodes where my heels became so itchy I couldn’t go back to sleep. I made the mistake of googling “itchy heels” and spent a week spinning down the rabbit hole of “oh my god I have liver failure” before finally calling my OB and getting some reassurance. Horray for doctors that don’t make us feel like crazy people for wanting to get checked out for every worrisome symptom! You are doing a great job, Belle. I’m super happy for you and your husband, you will be wonderful parents.

I am so glad it was not flaring! I felt great during my first tri and then in the second my sense of smell went from sensitive to scent overload and I was gagging a lot. I think I read that the placenta really takes over between 9-12 weeks so there are a lot of changes your body is going through. The surge in hormones and an increase in blood flow could be causing the headaches. That increase can happen any time, different for everyone. I just started to get pretty bad headaches every night this past week. My BP is fine and my Dr says it’s most likely from the increased blood volume.
