All this stress makes me long for regular pampering…

You know what is stressful? Moving to NYC. You know what is even more stressful? Planning a move to NYC a month after you give birth. You know what is even more stressful than that? Looking for a place to live that is family friendly, meets your budget and allows your herd of cats.

Yeah… there are some tough conversations going on over in Belle Land and it’s not making for great posting material. I wanted you to know that the Chicken and I are hanging in there, despite some radio silence, and that we’ll be back a.s.a.p. with an update on tentative plans and Operation S.O.S. (Sell Our Shit Stuff) as soon as some details get hashed out. Until then, I’ll leave you with these thoughts-

  • I think I’m having some Braxton Hicks. This or from time to time something right under my ribs starts tensing and crawling around. Stomach alien in addition to uterine alien? Who knows!
  • Talked to my doctor about the shortness of breath and fatigue. She said it is normal but that I could be anemic, although my blood work two weeks ago was fine. She suggested I add more iron to my diet naturally and in two weeks we’ll recheck. In the meantime, cut my body some slack and take the bus to work. 🙂
  • I have reached the point in pregnancy where comfort trumps fashion. Today I’m wearing sneakers, yoga pants, a tank top and a denim jacket at work and don’t give a damn what my coworkers think!
  • I have booked maternity photos for the end of May. We’ll be doing one outfitted session and one nude session. Yes, I’m that pregnant lady who wants nudes of her pregnant body. I worked damn hard for this Homer Simpson belly and  as uncomfortable as I am in it, I do want to remember things and have proof that once upon a time I had boobs.
  • I need help picking an outfit for the clothed part of the shoot. Currently everything flowy makes me feel… like a bag. Tight things make me feel… like Homer Simpson. However, tight things do show the bump. But what kind of tight things do you wear for maternity photos? And please don’t suggest stripes. This lady is not a fan of stripes on her bump.  Suggestions are welcome, otherwise I might go all out and dress like Homer in a white tank and blue work pants 🙂
  • I finally started on the Chicken’s mobile. And then the white cat, Euclid, ate my white embroidery thread and later vomited it all up with her kibble in the dining room. Delicious.  At least the fat brown cat, Fermi, did not eat the vomit this time. Disgusting. Mobile is now on hold while I wait for some free time to buy more thread…
  • My first baby shower is less than two weeks away. I’m ridiculously excited to see my two aunties from childhood. I seriously cannot wait!
  • And now I need to waddle to the potty again…

I think you should totally do a white tank and blue pants/jeans for at least one shot!! That will be hilariously adorable. So glad you are doing the maternity shots. I couldn’t afford it, but if we ever get lucky a second time my friend has now started seriously dabbling in photography, so I would be forcing my belly upon her lenses. I hope the stresses start melting away one at a time, and quickly!

i’d say, dark yoga pants and a white or light tank, maybe a scarf or an interesting necklace, and a can of duff beer:) bare feet also.

my husband wants to take our pregnancy photos. he. is. terrible. with a camera. he cant see the icons and doesnt know how to turn off the damn flash, thinks natural light doesnt matter, shakes to the point of fuzzy photos depending on the fstop… he always thinks i look fine and doesnt have a critical eye not to take photos that actually make me look like cold, fatty ham.

i’m getting little swizzles near my ribs too, but i dont think they are braxton hicks. i think they are just swizzles and twinges from all the changes and readjustments. make sure you’re drinking plenty of water though.

good luck with apt shopping. i cant imagine the pressure. you are really going to have to plan a lot ahead of time. but i know you can do it!!!!…and do a good job of it all!

You will be beautiful in whatever you wear!! I agree, post some choices of outfit to vote on that would be a great idea – can’t wait!

OK, for the maternity shoot, I highly recommend wearing a stretchy dress that’s tight at the top and hugs your curves; if it’s looser at the bottom, you can just hold it in underneath your belly to accentuate the curve… go for something like this (but not orange):

At least that’s my opinion. 🙂 I also vote for something monochrome because patterns are kind of distracting…

On another note, can you pretty please post the instructions for how you make your mobile?? I would love to know how to make one because I have all these little crocheted owls, but I don’t know where to start!

Holy crap planning a move to NYC under any circumstance is stressful… Much less yours you brave brave lady!

Love, love, love.. Freaking LOVE that you’re doing a nude pregnancy shot. Badass.

Can you have more than one outfit for the clothed maternity shoot? I like the idea of a camisole or tank top with jeans. Also, I’m a big fan of dresses. For my maternity shoot with my first pregnancy, I also did lingerie, several tank tops, a sports bra, and more. And asking the photographer for suggestions is always helpful — that’s what I did!

I wore a black top and flowy skirt as one of my outfits for maternity photos and I love how the couple I saw turned out (still waiting on the rest). I do not envy moving stress. I HATE moving. Hope you are able to move with ease…relatively

I, too, am in search of the perfect maternity photo session outfit. I’m looking forward to reading what pepole have to say!

We’re doing our photos on May 3 – so that I’m not too huge or swollen. We didn’t do these with Matthew and although I don’t necessarily regret it, I do sort of wish we’d done it. But I won’t be nude 😉

Nude is fabulous. My vote for outfit: love the pretty and tight-fitting dress idea (no prints!) and I also vote for the white tank (or cammy) and jeans!

this may sound weird, and granted i was 35 weeks pregnant with twins when i had my maternity shot, but the photog suggested one of my husband’s button down work shirts and a pair of light pants (i wore dark khakis) and it ended up waaaay cuter than what i choose (white tank top and loose black cotton pants)
