Florida recap in pictures

Hello little bloggie world! The Professor and I returned from our trip to Florida yesterday. It was a much needed escape from the mess and stress of making a baby and preparing to move to NYC. My little brother’s wedding was just beautiful, full of happy moments and flooded with tears as we are ALL wedding criers.

Hermano and I right before we went out to the beach to wait on his bride. No photos of bride and groom during the ceremony since I was standing by his side as his “best man.”

Much of the trip focused on spending time with the bride and groom so the Professor and I did not have our normal adventures outdoors. We did, however, spend lots of time applying SPF 70 to our fair Kentucky skin and basking in the sunshine.

We enjoyed some awesome vegan lunches.

@ The Green Room Cafe in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

And a super fun dinner with the entire wedding party where my sweet Oma was serenaded by a very bad jazz musician whose CD was titled “Sax Appeal.”

That guy’s face sort of says it all…

The “rehearsal dinner” was spent on the Banana River looking at manatees, dolphins and birds.

The happy couple got a special lesson on “relations” when we witnessed manatees mating.

You can't see much here, but there are at least two manatee couples in the water getting it on!

The Professor and I still managed to squeak in two long morning walks on the beach to look at birds, collect a few sea beans and admire all the colorful jellyfish that had washed up the night before.

I befriended a very sweet, very fat cat who lived at the resort.

And finally, we officially fired the iPhone GPS after it lead us to the oceans’ edge and announced that we had “Arrived at Sanford/Orlando International Airport.” Thankfully we had extra time to find the actual airport and stop along the way to snap a few photos of Sanford, Fla. This sign was my personal favorite from the adventure.

Quality advice from Florida’s finest.

You look great! And I LOVED the Harvey Karp book. It was our “bible” the first few weeks we had Daniel home!

Good to hear a positive review! My mother scoffed when she saw the book and said something to the effect of, “Lots of luck with that one” and then told me “things will just come naturally and as long as I’m a happy mom I’ll have a happy baby. It did not leave me feeling very positive! However, since her comment I’ve read 3/4 of the way through and there actually is something to Karp’s arguments. I figure it certainly can’t hurt to have a few “techniques” in my pocket when Chicken comes home!

Congratulations to Hermano!! And you–you are positively glowing! You look absolutely amazing, Belle.

I love the photo of the man o’war. Time to teach Abby about jellyfish with a cool visual aid. And that resort cat is the twin of our local bookstore cat. I’m glad you had such a great time!!

I love that my photos prompt lessons with Abby!

Hey thanks! This was my one maternity splurge. Not cheap but it has this funny top part that opens up to breast feed so I hope to get use out of it postpartum too!

Tan in a bottle was a shocking success! I think I’ll review it later this week actually! A tiny bit of cleavage. Still rocking the A cup bras though so don’t get too excited 🙂

Yay Hermano!!! Wishing the newlyweds many happy years of togetherness and adventure. Glad the trip went well and you got a chance to enjoy the scenery. And I completely concur with the liquor store sign. Too bad the effects are ephemeral.

Funny – our GPS got confused going to Sanford/Orlando airport. a week ago. HA! I wonder why it’s so hard to find!

Looks like you had a great time! I love your dress!

That’s hilarious! We decided that we’ll have a real map when we move to NYC too, just in case. The last thing we need is to be lost in the city with a newborn and four squawking cats!

  9. April 29, 2013

What is that gelatinous blue thing??? A jellyfish??

You look gorgeous! Love that dress and your bump under it 🙂 Yay Florida vacation / wedding weekends!

Oh. My. God. That photo of your Oma and the sax player is probably the best thing I’ve seen on the Internets all month… BOTH of their facial expressions are just priceless! Also, LOVE your dress. Also, Google Maps is sometimes on crack. Beware!

What in the world is my cat doing in Florida?!?

  14. April 30, 2013

you look great – gorgeous pic from the wedding! some of Karp’s techniques may be helpful! also check out The Period of PURPLE Crying. it suggests some of the same techniques, but also reminds you that sometimes babies just cry. there is nothing wrong with you or the baby, it is just a normal stage of development and you should not blame yourself!
