I did not have a Super Moon Baby

On Friday at 4:30 my coworkers all decided I would go into labor Sunday night with the Super Moon. Their excitement got me so excited that I went ahead and cleared out the rest of my office before I left because SURELY these people who know nothing about me or the current ripeness of my vagina are right.

Today I’m back at work and my office is very empty while my uterus is still very full.

In other news, the Professor and I did some major packing this weekend. Last weekend we purchased an entire house full of moving boxes from a guy on Craigslist. He had just moved to Lexington and decided to resell all his professional moving company boxes cheap. I have moved A LOT in my childhood and adult life and know the value of professional moving boxes that are custom sized for things like books, dishes and clothing. If you stick with professional boxes from one moving company your moving pod or tailor will pack much better and you can squeeze a lot more in. So when I saw $400 in moving boxes for sale for $70 I snatched them up.

My mom thought we were jumping the gun a little with starting to pack 6-8 weeks before our move. Honestly, I don’t think we are. This is allowing us to pack a box or two a day, or 7-10 boxes every weekend and evaluate everything that we box. It gives us a chance to do a second purge and is producing an impressive stack of stuff for garage sale part II. It also is letting us clear off furniture to sell so we can list it early and wait till a buyer comes along that will pay a respectable price. (No, Craigslist Cheapskate, I’m not selling $300 in bookcases for $20 thankyouverymuch.)

Speaking of Craigslist, we had a KILLER few days in sales this weekend! Some weeks are pretty dead and then others are super hot. This weekend we sold a $300 amplifier, a $90 guitar pedal, a $40 dresser and a $50 sink and now have a nice stack of cash to deposit into our savings account. Next weekend we’ll start listing the Professor’s high-dollar tools and hope that when all is said and done we can raise an additional $1,000 to $1,500. All funds raised from selling our crap will go towards new home start up costs including the PAX wardrobes we’ll need for storage, a new table since ours is WAY too big to ever fit, fresh paint for the entire place (the asylum-green walls MUST go) and then all that small stuff you don’t realize you need till you get there.

I could ramble more but I think I’ll spare you guys. My brain is mush right now and I think my writing reflects it. I blame the human napping under my ribs. Instead I’ll leave you with this screenshot.

So the Professor and I LOVE Sandwich Monday on and will often read it to one another while we are sitting on the sofa wasting time in the evenings. The other night I read him the post about the T-Rex burger and we had a good laugh. I did not realize that he posted the article to Facebook right after I did. I found our descriptions to be a perfect example of how very, very different we are 🙂 I do love my junk food eating man!

Damn!!! You just reminded me I forgot to look at the super moon last night!
Congrats on selling your shit :). And I despise super cheap Craigslist people. Who email you 400 questions then show up without enough money. Ugh.

Never to early to pack if you can manage it. We did that for our last move and were able to purge and craigslist in stages, just as you describe. It was great! Good luck with everything!

Craig’s List is so hit or miss. We bought our $18k truck on there (for $5k under blue book value!) and sold it 2 years later for $20k, all via Craig’s List. WIN. We also bought our river raft ($1200) and our concrete forms ($16k) on there. Big ticket items for GREAT deals. Then you try to buy a couch and get some stupid a*hole who can’t answer a simple question about the dimensions and you feel like saying “F*YOU CRAIG’S LIST.” *sigh* I have a love/hate relationship with that thing.

Packing in stages is SO smart – the 2nd purge will allow you to get to New York with so much less “stuff”!

I would absolutely be packing already. The longer you wait, the harder it is when you are trying to get other things done. Plus now is the time to pack up things like winter clothes, sports equipment that you haven’t been using, junk drawers, etc. Things that you don’t use every day.

I don’t think it’s too early to pack! But it does drag the process out a little longer. Yay for productive craigslist weeks!!!

Yeah, I was SO disappointed back in December when we passed up the Mayan end of the calendar (no apocalypse baby?!) and then the winter solstace and full moon too. I cried all day after each of those days, and then pretty much the entire last week before Loki finally arrived, well after the new year. In hindsight, that seems so silly, but this has got to be one of the hardest waiting games EVER — maybe cuz it’s so emotionally and physically intense all at once. So I sympathize, Lady… good luck this week! You will meet dear Chicken very soon!

great job on S.O.S. and scoring those boxes! i think its definitely a good idea to start the packing. chicken and professor are lucky to have such an organized and thoughtful woman in their lives!

we kind of sort of did have a supermoon baby:) well, i guess it was supermoon eve?… we had our baby at 10pm on 6/22, and left the birth center at 4am the morning of 6/23 under the really huge moon. anyway, it was pretty cool. he is awesome and beautiful and i’m glad he’s here. feels like we’ve known him forever. i know you and chicken and professor will feel the same way. i’m so excited for you to meet your baby in one short week:))) you’re going to be an awesome mom!!

Congratulations jak….don’t know you but your advice is always right on and your support for Miss Belle is awesome. I think the Solstice/Super Moon weekend would, no doubt, produce an amazing soul!
