Sabine: 13 weeks

10/08/2013

Belle

3 months! 4

I have been keeping a blog for grandparents where I post a daily (or near daily!) photo of Sabine for their viewing pleasure. It is easy to keep up as I mostly post cell phone photos directly from my phone and makes the grandparents extremely happy. If I go more than two days without a post I get sad emails from family, actually!

I have debated linking Sabine Daily to Scrambled Eggs for many reasons, mainly respect to my readers who are still fighting their way through treatment or adoption papers. Looking back at my pathetic posting over the last three months has me reconsidering, though!

Rather than beating you over the head with daily photos of my kid I am going to shoot for weekly picture updates that mix some Sabine Daily content and some other snaps along with a few words or captions. I will try for this every Tuesday and will title them “Sabine: 13 Weeks” so folks can easily filter them out if they are not in the mood. Sound good?

So without further ado, last week we celebrated Sabine’s 3 month / 13 week milestone. Here are a few pictures and words!

3 Months! 1

Dear Sabine,

It is so hard to believe I’ve been your Mama for three months. Some days it feels like just yesterday I was staring at the positive pregnancy test, and then others it is hard to remember life before you. Either way, you bring such joy and light to our lives!

This month you have developed by leaps and bounds! You have found your hands and constantly have them in your mouth. You are able to grab a handful of blanket and shove it and fingers in your mouth for comfort. Your arms and legs are getting more coordinated as you reach for toys and objects. You respond most to our white kitty, Euclid, and enjoy watching the occasional Baby Einstein video with her.

You still love your twice, sometimes thrice, daily walks to look at trees and sky. You are becoming increasingly more interested in the green world around you, which warms my heart and gives me hope the one day we can be tree huggers together! Daddy and I eagerly await taking you hiking in Upstate New York this spring and letting you discover all the wonder that nature has to offer.

You know our voices when you hear them and follow us as we walk through the room. You love when Daddy rubs your fuzzy hair and smile big when Mama’s eyes meet yours. You are developing an impressive vocabulary of happy coos and specific fusses for when you are hungry or tired. You are a champion nurser and are well on your way to doubling your birth weight!

You are getting stronger every day and are so close to rolling over from back to tummy. You are also working mighty hard at crawling, and get extremely frustrated when it won’t work.

3 months! 3

In three months you have learned so much, and taught me even more. I’ve learned to always pack two backup outfits because “poo-splosions” tend to come in waves. I’ve learned that these backup outfits should be checked for fit periodically, otherwise you end up strolling through Manhattan for an afternoon with a onsie so small that it won’t snap shut! I’ve learned that sometimes babies just need to spend an entire day snuggled with Mama. I’ve learned that sometimes Mama’s just need an entire day snuggled with baby! I am still learning that life as a Mama is slower than life as a childless woman. I’m learning how to balance a social life and domestic life with life as your parent. I’m learning a new level of patience that I never knew existed! I can’t wait to see where the next month will take us! Until then, sweet Bean, keep making us smile and laugh.

Love you always,

Mama

Oh a blog for grandparents – that is a fabulous idea! My parents don’t have smartphones and it drives me crazy that I have to email these 30 second video clips. Do you post them on YouTube and link it or is there another way to do it? Teach me!

I just realized you said photos, not videos. Still, the blog idea is a really good one.
