The Bean has rolled. And rolled. And rolled. And is fighting her way towards crawling. I am caught up in a shit storm of emotions about this.
“Yay! Baby is growing and is an over achiever!”
“Booo! Baby is growing up!”
“Sniffle sniffle baby is going to not be a baby soon.”
It’s incredibly exciting and so very sad and makes me say foolish things like “Maybe we’ll have one more,” while I cake on an extra layer of makeup to try and hide the growing bags under my eyes Today, though, I want to celebrate the wonder that is watching your kid learn new, monumental skills.
I see her thinking about things so, so hard. She purses her lips, stares with great concentration and r e a c h e s a hand out to GRASP her purple monkey (the best toy on the baby gym). The first time she rolled from back to belly there was this great moment of stillness and thought as she prepared for her journey and then WOMP, over she went. Every time she accomplishes what she sets out to do she looks so damn happy with herself.
And then she forgets to how to roll back from belly to back and starts making a huge fuss for Mama to come help!
Here is a video of one of our flips and crawl attempts while we were rocking out to Asylum Street Spankers one night. Daddy was working late so Mama got to choose the evening music selection meaning little girl got a wide array of weird as opposed to his wide array of mainstream. 🙂
She sings, she dances, she rolls and then she burps! My kid is awesome. 🙂
